Italian Ice

Italian ice is like sorbet.  Made with real fruit, it contains no fat, no cholestrol and no dairy. Italian Ice is low in calories and very refreshing.  

Frozen custard is a type of  ice cream made with cream, sugar and eggs.  It typically contains 10% milk fat and 1.4% egg yolk.  It is an American ice cream introduced in 1919. 

Gelati is a parfait-like delight and is a layering of Italian Ice and frozen custard.  Italians in Philadelphia and New York named the frozen treat Gelati and is not to be confused with Gelato, which is Italian ice cream.   There are some very fine Gelato shops in Portland but j Gelati is the only Italian ice and frozen custard shop!
